Charanga Sing
A fantastic teaching resource that encourages everyone to sing more!
Research has shown the undeniably positive impact of singing on students’ emotional, physical and mental well-being – hence the inclusion of Charanga Sing in the Musical School programme, a popular teaching resource that encourages everyone to sing more.
With a bank of over 500 songs for all occasions, ages and groupings, including themed collections, musicals, ready-made assemblies and choral works, Charanga Sing caters for vocal specialists, confident singers or those keen on promoting singing in their school. By providing fun songs to sing from around the world and their cultural contexts, learners’ music education experiences are enriched.
This year, Charanga are adding 250 new songs to the section. Access hand-picked songs from Oxford University Press’s award-winning Voiceworks series, assembly packs and musicals from Starshine Music, Russell Hepplewhite’s popular History Express Songs collection, and more.
Finding songs
Use the categories provided, such as age range or genre, to highlight suitable material or Charanga’s search facility to look for specific words – perhaps linking to work you are doing in other curriculum areas.
A wealth of information
An overview of each song, including its age suitability, difficulty, and genre, will help you decide which will work best for you and the children. Opening the Song Description and Details reveals teaching ideas and musical guidance, such as range, key and tempo.
Quick access to your favourite songs
You can ‘star’ songs for your teaching or specific projects when looking through the song bank. These will be added to your My Resources page with My Workspace, allowing easy access whenever needed.
Singing Courses and Song Collections
Musitrax Sing 1 & 2 offer a child-centred approach to music teaching for Early Years and Key Stage 1 based on Kodály principles. For younger children, a bank of nursery rhymes, action songs, old favourites, and specially written songs is included.
A range of unison and two or more part songs encourages older children to sing. Charanga’s Song Collections contain well-loved materials for school choirs, and a vocal health section features fantastic body and vocal warm-ups, exercises, and popular tongue twisters.
